It’s time to create a home that follows you
no matter where the journey of life may lead.

If you’re like many people living abroad (or preparing to) you know that settling into a new home is a daunting task. You struggle to find your bearings and learn your way around a new city. Making friends seems like a nearly impossible task. How do you build relationships if you don’t know anyone? As an expat spouse, you may feel like your career is on hold, and you are not sure how to keep your professional identity current. You feel overwhelmed and invisible and have no one to talk to who understands.

Homesickness is a constant companion. When will you finally feel like you belong? Maintaining your relationships from back home seems impossible. You’re tired of learning about milestones in your loved one’s lives via Facebook posts. How can you be a part of their lives when you live so far away?

I’m Barbro- an expat coach and teacher.

I’m here to help you build an identity and a feeling of home that follows you no matter where you might take off for next.

For the past 10 years, I’ve worked with expats around the globe to help them settle into their new homes and cultivate the skills necessary to build lasting relationships abroad.

Looking back I realize I have always moved a lot, even in my native Sweden. By being flexible and willing to move to take a new job, I made it easier for me to find interesting jobs within my field. After a 2 year work assignment in the Netherlands, I got bit by the expat bug. I loved the prospect of getting to travel, the change of pace and the new sights I got to see.

My journey took me to Montreal, San Diego, Los Angeles and New York. Along the way, I learned that it takes a unique set of skills to truly thrive abroad. I also learned what didn’t work so well for me, which was focus too much on my work and not enough on my personal relationships. I began compiling what I had learned, and sharing it with other expats that I met. These skills and tools have served me time and time again, each time life brought me to a new home.

After years of working in the corporate world, I dove into entrepreneurship in 2004. I began teaching and speaking to expats around the world, sharing the skills and knowledge that I’d accumulated from a lifetime of travel. Over a decade later, I’m still at it.

You’ll learn practical tips that will help you at every stage of your journey- whether you’re moving for the first time or have been a digital nomad for years.
I’ll teach you how to build new relationships and foster old ones.
I’ll teach you how to cultivate your professional contacts and skills, so you can bring your identity with you.
And most importantly, you’ll learn how to find the “home” inside yourself, no matter where your journey takes you.

Here’s to the journey,

xo- Barbro
